We’re all trying to figure out how to do life.

This is my take.

There’s no singular “right” path.

But all our paths share some common themes.

Dream.

I am the kind of person where when I decide I’m going to do something, I go for it.

In the past I’ve had dreams that I chased and achieved. It’s immensely satisfying to go after a dream and actually attain the desired outcome. But I’ve also found myself in moments where I wondered if I was following my own dream, or someone else’s dream FOR me. I believe that dreams can and should be fluid. Just because I wanted something five years ago but haven’t yet attained it, doesn’t make me bound to it.

The universe may nudge me along, but I am in charge of my destiny.

Growth.

Growth does not happen overnight. It requires patience.

It has taken me a long time to appreciate the value of patience. Though I’ve never been one to skip to the end of a book to see how it ends, in life I have always wanted to know what comes next. Although one can never truly know what will come next, attachment to an outcome somehow felt secure to me - even though it is anything but. By holding on to a particular outcome, I might miss something even better.

I continue to practice letting go of outcomes and learning to flow with the waves of life.

Movement.

I believe that the best exercise is the one you love to do.

I was a coxswain for rowing teams through high school and into college. After college, I fell in love with running and ran five marathons. I moved onto boutique fitness, CrossFit, and yoga. In June 2017 I received my CrossFit Level 1 training certificate, and although I’ve never coached, I learned a lot about functional fitness. In March 2020 I attended Zuna Yoga’s 200-hour yoga teacher training and became registered yoga teacher with the Yoga Alliance.
